life's little instructions

my good friend's momma gave me 'the complete life's little instruction book' last christmas. i was drinking some celestial seasonings tea last night and noticed on the side of the small box was 'the wisdom of daily life', with 8 different instructions from the same author of my little book...
i smiled thinking of each one as i sipped the hot wellness tea. thought i'd share a few that i read from the book she gave me.. thanks h.j.b. jr. for your insight~ (more to come later....) :-)

  • be the first to say, "hello."

  • learn three clean jokes.

  • make new friends but cherish the old ones.

  • make the best of bad situations.

  • always accept an outstretched hand.

  • hug children after you discipline them.

  • slow dance.

  • never give up on what you really want to do. the person with big dreams is more powerful than one with all the facts.

  • don't major in minor things.

  • never go grocery shopping when you're hungry. you'll buy too much. (soooooo true!! hehe)

  • when someone hugs you, let them be the first to let go.

  • don't allow the phone to interrupt important moments. it's there for your convenience, not the caller's.

  • seek out the good in people.

  • lie on your back and look at the stars.

  • live your life as an exclamation, not an explanation.

  • compliment even small improvements.

  • read to your children.

  • sing to your children.

  • listen to your children.

  • use a favorite picture of a loved one as a bookmark.

  • remember that the more you know, the less you fear.

  • be happy with what you have while working for what you want.
